This is a research document for people interested in investigating who Osho was and in what way his work and vision affected the lives of millions of individuals in the late part of the 20th century.
Our interest is to portray a wide range of personal experiences in the interviewee’ own words. We have done minimum editing of the content of such interviewees, so that this oral history project could be used by future researchers interested in studying Osho’s legacy and vision. Here they will find a story which is told through the direct voice of the people who were personally involved with him.
For this purpose, we selected thirty-seven interviews, which were divided into categories. Thirty-three of those interviews were made by Sawaram and four came from my archive. We were particularly interested in people whose stories were not readily available in the existing media, despite being close to or profoundly influenced by Osho. Some of them were already working on memoirs about their time with him. We have purposely included interviews with disciples who were critical of some aspects of Osho’s work and left his company before he died. Our aim is that the person who reads this book can make up their own opinion by listening to many different voices.
